GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO BRAND IDENTITY

Giannis signed on to become one of Nike’s premier signature basketball athletes. From the on set, we knew his multi-cultural appeal meant he would need an identity system at a scale broader than what had ever been done before.

I helped drive an identity for him that was meant to be flexible, cohesive and be able to execute across the multitude of platforms he would inevitably need as his business rapidly expands. This was inclusive of a primary mark, wordmark, number, pattern and additional tertiary elements to be adaptable to all elements of his quickly expanding brand. A HERO’S JOURNEY
ANTETOKOUNMPO_ A CROWN ACROSS THE SEA  (NIGERIAN MEANING)

Giannis’s story reads like the journey of a Greek mythological hero. His background of Nigerian parents, and Greek upbringing, make him unique. The Nigerian meaning of his last name alludes to a journeyed life of a hero of epic proportions. 

Like every Greek Demi-God, he comes from humble beginnings, and his path unfolds in unexpected ways. The Titan’s have bestowed him with talents that allow him to overcome every challenge in an almost super human way. Known as the Greek Freak, he is now poised to be one of the most dominant basketball players in history.
